It’s day eighteen ofthe Eats Amazing Advent Calendarand today I'm sharing another really simple homemade gift idea - double chocolate Christmas bark.

I found some chocolate snowmen in the supermarket last week and instantly knew that they'd be perfect for this recipe. You can use any Christmaschocolates you can find though - there are loads of different types available at this time of year if you keep your eyes peeled for them.

I also took an extra minute or two to pick out festive red and green m&ms for this bark but you can of course use all the colours if you want to - why not let your children decide and let them loose with their creativity!

It's also great way of using up the leftovers if you already picked out the yellow and orange ones for my marshmallow penguins or penguin cookies!

Christmas Double Chocolate Bark

Ingredients:

  • 200g milk chocolate
  • 200g white chocolate
  • Christmas sprinkles (I used red nonpareils)
  • handful festive shaped chocolates (I used chocolate snowmen)
  • red and green m&ms or smarties

Method:

Line a small baking traywith grease-proof or baking paper.

Break up the milk chocolate and place it in a microwave safe bowl.

Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring between each one to ensure it melts evenly. Be careful not to overheat or burn the chocolate, heat only until just melted and smooth.

Pour the chocolate onto the lined baking tray. Using the back of a spoon or spatula, spread the chocolate around so that it covers the tray in a thin, even layer.

Pop the tray of chocolate into the fridge to set - 10-15 minutes should do it.

Once set, remove from the fridge.

Break up the whitechocolate and place it in a microwave safe bowl.

Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring between each one to ensure it melts evenly. As with the milk chocolate, be careful not to overheat or burn it - heat only until just melted and smooth.

Pour the white chocolate over the milk chocolate and spread it around so it forms a second, even layer over the milk chocolate. Work quickly so that it doesn't melt the first layer and get mixed up.

Scatter the sprinkles over the chocolate, then addthe festive chocolate shapes - spreading out evenly over the sheet of chocolate.

Sprinkle over the m&ms or smarties between the chocolate shapes.
