What to consider when buying an Easter basket
While selecting an Easter basket that is ready to go has its advantages, we recommend you also keep these key items in mind when finding your perfect basket:
- Safety: Ensure any Easter basket you select is appropriate for the age of the child who will receive it. This is especially true of newborns and toddlers, who can choke on small objects. Additionally, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) does not recommend sugar or caffeine for children under 2.
- Food allergens and sugar content: With some baskets offering several unique treats you will want to ensure you read the ingredients for every item to prevent allergic reactions or breaking household eating norms (no dairy, no eggs, etc.). While children over age 2 can have sugar, it is important to consider how much candy you’re handing over, and how you expect to dole out sweets.
